Forget The Alarm
To clarify: that’s not “me” in the comic – that’s not how I (outwardly) wake up. I got to hear this happen one day when one of my kids woke up to the usual school day alarm and decided to try this approach for dealing with it.

TGIF?
This was some years back, but I can still feel the visceral disbelief that it was fine to put the issue aside when they were ready to stop working for the day, but it could not be more urgent to wake us up at 2 AM.

Every baby is different, so the “newborn experience” isn’t as equally harrowing for everybody. Parents with challenging babies love hearing how great that time was for someone else.

As Soon As I Close My Eyes
I often find myself having trouble sleeping while on-call expecting that alert to happen at any moment. How annoying to be the one responsible for messing up my own sleep when nothing happens.

Thankfully this particular scenario happened some time ago and it’s less common now for another team to gleefully ignore the severity classifications.

Idle Chit-Chat
Certainly it was not the best night of sleep I’ve ever had, but at least I was able to remember some of these night-time kid pronouncements for comic purposes.
